He was assisted by W J Irving who was also an accomplished fencer and the Royal Navy and Royal Marines foil champion in 1928, 1929 and 1930. The current phase of the Club started in 1990 when it moved to a brand new sports hall at Kingswood School on the northern edge of Bath. The availability of space, an early start to the evening and the coaching effort provided by an active committee has lead to an explosion in membership numbers. Bath is now the largest Club in the SW section.

A new clubhouse was opened in 1988.

Combe Down RFC

The club was founded in 1896. No records exist of the circumstances regarding the club's founding, or who the moving spirits were behind its inception, but photographs showing the early teams, together with their playing records show that rugby on Combe Down was adpted with enthusiasm and played with instinctive ability. The Club badge with its motto "Summus in Summo" (We are on the top), is as much an encouragement to endeavour as a description of the Club's geographical position.

Walcot Rugby

Lindy Hop

The Lindy Hop is not just a single dance form but is a fusion of formal European dance forms and more rhythmic black dances. It grew directly out of the Charleston and evolved as the jazz music of the twenties changed into the swing music of the Big Band era in the thirties and forties. Following World War II the music and dance went in separate directions, but even in today's dances the legacy of the Charleston, Lindy and other swing dances lives on.
