Entropy

Entropy is an alternative night club based in Bath, near Bristol in the UK. Bath has many clubs, but few play the kinds of music you'll find at Entropy. Basically, Jim and Mike got fed up of having to travel to London and Bristol for a good night out all the time. Although Discord (every Thursday at Babylon) is good, it caters more towards the Metal and Punk scene than Industrial and Goth, whilst Exile - a monthly night, plays only Goth and Industrial. We feel that Entropy fills a niche between the two, playing more Industrial than Discord, but more 80s, dance and Indie than Exile - just the way we like it.

Bath Music Festival

It was an extremely successful year - 22 broadcasts on BBC Radio 3, 3 standing ovations for World Music events, musicians from 30 countries and audiences from almost as many, and that's just scratching the surface.

The Green Park Brasserie occupies the old booking hall of Green Park Station, built by the Midland Railway in 1870 and used jointly with the Somerset & Dorset Railway from 1874, closed in 1966 and now magnificently restored. It is located within a quarter of a mile of the city centre. The Braz. is dedicated to serving quality food and wines at reasonable prices in an informal yet professional style. The ambience is warm, friendly and lively; the style of cuisine Anglo-French.

Walcot Street

Moles

Moles Club and live-music venue at 14 George Street, Bath opened on New Year's Eve 1978. This was at the end of the hectic 2 month re-vamp frenzy needed to transform the derelict previous club (The Six of Clubs) into a veggie cafe by day, and a live music venue by night. With a total starting capital of only £1400 and £600 borrowed from some friends to do all the work, it was some feat. At its inception it was regarded by the cognoscenti of Bath, as a welcome alternative to the glitzy, plastic nightclubs that usually typified the 1970s. Founded upon a strong live-music policy, along with the provision of real ale and a more natural environment with plenty of wood finishes, and an absence of "plastic" the club has expanded and continued to develop over the years in an organic fashion. The club now offers an excellent selection of beers, lagers and spirits including of course a wide range of bottled beers. It also boasts a 7 kilowatt, state-of-the-art Bose/Thunder Ridge sound system. For those simply wishing to have a drink and a chat the club has plenty of space away from the band and dance floor, with an upstairs bar area and two other rooms with plenty of seats and tables. The club benefits from the recent re-fit of the loos, when the next door building was bought and incorporated into the club. This has meant more seating areas, and a proper dedicated cloakroom big enough for a capacity crowd. Still based around the original concept the club has adapted to changing trends and tastes but manages to retain the same relaxed, friendly and intimate atmosphere it had in the beginning.

Fishworks

THE FISHWORKS EXPERIENCE IS NOT JUST ABOUT RESTAURANTS Extraordinarily, within Europe, the British, surrounded by seas teeming with fish, probably understand less about seafood and its preparation for the table than any other nation – our aim is to put that right. FishWorks have a driving passion when it comes to the enjoyment of the fruits of the sea – a pleasure so exhilarating that we want to share it with everyone. We believe that our distinctive approach to its preparation and retail goes a long way to achieving this. With our first restaurant gaining the Good Food Guide award ‘Best Fish Restaurant 2000’ and all three of our outlets independently winning a place in the new (2002) Good Food Guide we are obviously not alone in this belief. FishWorks venues feature a unique combination of traditional fishmonger, Seafood Café and cookery school all under one roof, creating a distinct atmosphere in which to eat, purchase or learn about the preparation of the freshest fish and seafood.

The Prince of Wales

The Prince of Wales is a freehouse with a good selection of traditional ales and lagers, including samples from local breweries. The Inn is not only a well known for its good beer but has an enviable reputation for the high quality of its food.

The Packhorse Inn

Situated just a short taxi ride (2 ½ miles) from Bath city centre, the Packhorse Inn nestles in the centre of the idyllic country village of Southstoke. Even to the most casual observer descending the steep hill from Bath through the little village of Southstoke the charming pub clinging to the hillside is an old one. In fact the present building of the Pack Horse Inn is in excess of 500 years old. The story of the old bath stone building begins at least 700 years ago with the building of a priory in Southstoke. As was the custom the monks built a guesthouse or hostelry to provide shelter with food and drink for travellers and pilgrims. In 1489 the Pack Horse was rebuilt with two fair chambers upon the ground floor and the same upon the first. Curiously the house was, and still is, divided by a passage way through its middle that leads to the church, but it was not until 1647 that anyone thought to put up a door to keep out the draughts.

Flan O'Briens

Flan O'Briens as we know it today was first Licensed in 1793 as the "Falstaff Tavern". It was built around 1780/1781 and as with most property within the old city walls belongs to the "Mayor, Alderman and Citizens of Bath", or as we know them today, Bath & North East Somerset Council. It has had many names over the last couple of hundred years including "The Birdcage, The Bristol Tavern, The County Wine Vaults, The Albion and Lavis". The current gents toilets were once a public lavatory and some might say still are, but this is where the "Lavis" came from. It has always being a town centre pub and over the years we have managed to avoid the fate of many other once fine city pubs i.e.. Nacho's and designer bottled fizz and dodgy euro pop. Though out our time here we have endeavoured to keep Flan's as a real city Boozer, some what of an endangered species in these parts.

Restaurant Martini

Situated in the centre of the beautiful Roman City of Bath. We are open for lunch from mid-day to 2.30 and for dinner from 6.00 till 10.30 7 days a week. So whatever the occasion - business lunch, family dinner or romantic evening - Martini Ristorante is the ideal place for entertaining.

The Moon and Sixpence

This is one of Bath’s better-kept secrets and tends to be a favourite haunt of the Bath locals. Once discovered however it is seldom forgotten. The restaurant is housed in an old Bath stone warehouse and set back from Broad Street up the cobbled passage, The Moon and Sixpence has the unique advantage of a city centre location with the benefit of tranquility and seclusion away from the city crowds. Its the perfect place to eat out in Bath, there really is something for everyone, a casual Bar / Bistro area, outside dining with table service if required and a top class restaurant under the care of head chef and director Kevin King. A talented team of young professionals work with Kevin to offer lunch and dinner 7 days a week throughout the year. The style of cuisine is broadly speaking; modern International and the overall feel is one of relaxed professionalism.

The Moody Goose

Highly acclaimed by the Michelin, AA and Good Food Guides The small privately owned restaurant specialises in modern English cuisine, the menus reflecting the changing seasons by using only the freshest local produce. A small team of experienced staff provide friendly and unobtrusive service. Enjoy a leisurely lunch or dinner in the bright and airy restaurant or privately in one of the vaulted dining rooms.

Bath Restaurants

It is invidious to name names but we have eaten at many of the restaurants listed in this brochure. We have often been delighted and very rarely disapointed. Only three criticisms/suggestions: more organic fare please, support local food producers - and fight the daft council parking restrictions which, at night, make eating out something of a challenge.

Rajpoot

Les Routier Restaurant of the year 1998. Rajpoot Tandoori Indian Restaurant Rajpoot House 4 Argyle Street Bath Somerset BA2 2BA.

The Bladuds Head

Named after the Legendary founder of Bath, and sited in the pretty village of Larkhall, the pub offers a warm welcome in its two Bars, or enjoy a drink outside in the front and rear Gardens. Dating back to 1858, our country inn is home to several Associations, one being the Bath Muzzle and Historic Breech Loaders, who hold all their meetings at the Pub.

Hatchetts

In a world of themed experiences we invite you to savour something original, a relic from a time before men in suits decided beer had to get served in funny shaped bottles we have this theory that a good pub's more than the sum of its authentic horse brass and computer programmed music. mainly it's about people, but a good pint goes a long way too.

Rose Lunt Art

I gained experience as a public speaker in my years as a colour consultant from 1988 to 1994. Following the successful completion of a City & Guilds course in Print & Radio Journalism in 1994, I was community correspondent for Bath's Evening Chronicle until 1996. During this time period I also undertook a Higher National Diploma in Community Arts. The first production of 'The Homecoming' was my final project on the course. Since that time, I have had the pleasure of performing 'The Homecoming' and my other productions to many sections of the community. 'The Homecoming' has been a way of raising funds and awareness for various charities, and has been performed as part of Bath's Fringe Festival for two years running. The original sell-out performance of 'Thanks for the memory' involved a local cast, but has now been re-written as a one woman show. I have taken my 'Tea Rose' and 'A New Look' to an ever increasing number of venues, including Luncheon Clubs, Fellowship Groups, TWGs and WI meetings, Nursing homes, sheltered housing and private celebrations. These productions are well recieved by both men and women, young and old.

Bath Fringe

Bath Fringe is a cooperative of audience members, event promoters and artists, and an umbrella title for seventeen days of events in all the artforms we can muster. Over the past few years this has generally come to around 150 different events plus a highly-visible visual arts programme all over the city. We try hard to keep ticket prices reasonable and to create & promote free events. Most events are not managed or paid for by the Fringe Committee itself: they come to you from enthusiasts for the artforms and artists involved and you can't get a better recommendation than that.

Bizarre Bath

"Bizarre Bath is weird and wonderful, poking fun at the more excentric elements of the city, as well as using passers-by in an enormously entertaining piece of street theatre. It's the brainchild of entertainers Noel Britten and JJ who have taken their renowned acts all over the world, and who now provide an evening show that is unique to Bath. On the evening I was there, a group of about 50 people - comprising locals, tourists, day trippers and passers-by - had assembled at the Huntsman Inn for the start of the walk. Not that you have to do much walking. It's more of a gentle stroll, interrupted by moments of lunacy. It is clear that the tours great success depends much on the presenter's interplay with the audience and the often bemused passers-by."

Demuths

Demuths, the only vegetarian restaurant in the beautiful Georgian city of Bath has been quietly making a name for itself for the past fifteen years creating innovative pure vegetarian and vegan food.

Pastich Bistro

Pastiche Bistro began in 1997 in Stafford, the brainchild of Managing Director, John Ashmore and Director Chef, Brian Woods. The Stafford site began as a humble coffee shop but deciding to experiment with evening trade we worked on our simple idea of good food at affordable prices and the Pastiche concept was born. We devised a menu based on £5.00 for a three course lunch menu and £10.00 for a three course dinner menu and have never looked back. This price led concept runs throughout the group although some sites are £5.00 for a two course lunch and £10.00 for a two course dinner, this is dependant on its location.

It's association with the Theatre goes back for many years, with the restaurant being the chosen venue for many an after show meal. Pasta Galore, as the name implies, serves some of the most amazing dishes from Italy, all featuring freshly made pasta, which is produced on the premises every day. They also have a small range of Italian dishes which do not include pasta, including pizzas and risottos.
